KORDIS JMK (project partner 02) 

KORDIS JMK is the public transport authority for Inte grated public transport in the South Moravian Region including the City of Brno and 8 other smaller cities.   KORDIS is responsible for managing, developing and maintenance of city and regional public transport including the local and regional trains and takes part in the decisions concerning national rail connections.   KORDIS ensures comprehensive activities in all types of public transport, in conceptual, planning, operational, inspection, controlling and promotional terms.

Brno hub

Brno is located in the South-east of the Czech Republic. It is an administrative centre of the South-Moravian region, seat of universities and important city of trade fairs. Brno is the second largest city of the Czech Republic with population of nearly 400,000 people. Three capitals, Prague, Vienna and Bratislava, are located within its two hundred-kilometer radius. Brno railway hub lies on the priority axis No. 22 and 23 of the TEN-T network.

Performed activities within the RAILHUC project

  • Building of Workgroup with representatives of: the Ministry of Transport, the Railway Infrastructure administration and the Vysocina Region (project partner 03) which focused on plans of a new High speed line going through the Czech Republic
  • Survey of existing traffic demand in trains and other transport modes
  • Preliminary identification of railway stations with lack of Park & Ride facilities

Planned activities within the RAILHUC project

  • Study of potential demand on High speed connection going through the Czech Republic
  • Feasibility study of revitalization of the hub feeder railway (Hrusovany u Brna – Zidlochovice)
  • Study of possible new railway stops in the surrounding area of the Brno hub which can support the traffic demand
  • Study of systematic network of new Park & Ride facilities at railway stations in the South-Moravian region
